Retrieval-Augmented Generation
RAG
A technique that retrieves current information from external documents or the web and adds it to an LLM prompt to support accurate answers.
The process of converting ambiguous or conversational questions into explicit queries that help a retrieval system find accurate results.
쿼리 재작성
Query Rewriting turns a question with pronouns or omitted context, such as “How much is it?”, into an explicit query such as “iPhone 15 Pro price.” As multiturn conversations become more common, recovering the user’s actual intent from prior context becomes important to retrieval accuracy. In RAG pipelines, omitting this step can lead to irrelevant documents and weaker answers, so a lightweight rewriting model is often placed before retrieval.
Addresses incomplete references such as “it” in conversational questions.
Resolve pronouns such as “there” and omitted context to improve first-stage retrieval accuracy.
